The FirstBank UK Summer Internship Programme 


The Summer Internship Programme offers the chance to gain unparalleled insight into the inner workings of an international bank. You’ll work closely with everyone from your fellow interns to C-Suite executives, developing your skills quickly through structured training opportunities and meaningful, hands-on experience. 


This fast-paced, 10-week internship is in our London offices and gives you real ownership of your work, enabling you to make a real impact from day one. 


By the end of the programme, you will have developed strong skills in your chosen role, and essential professional skills, including commercial awareness, personal accountability, and workplace confidence - skills that are essential for a future career at FirstBank UK  and in the financial services sector. 


Successful interns may be able to return as full-time team members of our team upon completion of their studies, subject to performance and business need. 


The Data Engineering Internship


The Data Office is a centralised function within the organisation responsible for data governance, management, and enablement. It acts as a Centre of Excellence for all data-related initiatives and ensures data is accurate, accessible, and governed, while empowering business teams to leverage data for decision-making and innovation.


​​The Data Office intern will be expected to develop foundational skills and knowledge of Data Management and Analysis by completing several job activities and entry-level tasks as identified by the management.



Primary Responsibilities: 



Data Analysis & Delivery

  • Support analysis of business data and execution of the organisation’s data strategy to deliver core business capabilities.
  • Manipulate, analyse, and interpret complex datasets, preparing reports for internal and external audiences using corporate tools and technologies (e.g. Alteryx, Power BI).
  • Assist with report production, requirements gathering, and timely delivery of data analysis tasks.

Data Development, Automation & Quality

  • Support data development activities including data engineering, data preparation, pipeline development, data modelling, and architecture design.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and automation; build, maintain, and monitor automated data processing activities.
  • Produce and track key performance metrics and reports, and assist with the rollout of data quality monitoring and audit processes.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

  • Work with the team and bank management to prioritise business and information needs and provide visibility of the team’s backlog to peers and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Data team, presenting findings and insights clearly to support informed decision-making.
  • Maintain engagement with internal and external clients, suppliers, and stakeholders on data-related matters.

Data Governance & Professional Standards

  • Maintain accurate data, records, and documentation aligned with the Data Office remit.
  • Build knowledge of corporate data tools and technologies, track industry trends, and contribute insights on emerging technologies relevant to the bank.
  • Adhere to the bank’s policies and procedures, code of conduct.

 

 

What we look for:


  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM degree, including Computer Science, Data, Mathematics and Statistics 
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • A strong team player who is proactive, responsive, and who can thrive in a collaborative environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint


Application requirements


  • This programme is for undergraduate students who are in their penultimate year, with an expected graduation in Summer 2027.
  • You must be available for the full duration of the programme: Monday 22nd June until Friday 28th August 2026.


You must act as a Company Ambassador, to deliver good outcomes to retail customers.
