Matchmove Artist - VFX

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Matchmove Artist to join our studio team, creating the camera tracking and 3D scene reconstruction that make the impossible feel real.

Key Responsibilities

• Track camera movements from live-action plates to create accurate 3D camera solves
• Build and refine 3D proxy geometry to match real-world environments and objects
• Work closely with layout, animation, and compositing teams to ensure seamless integration
• Solve complex tracking challenges including lens distortion, motion blur, and difficult footage conditions
• Maintain organized scene files and documentation for downstream departments
• Troubleshoot technical issues and optimize workflows for efficiency

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven studio based Production Matchmove experience in film, TV, or commercials
• Expert knowledge of industry-standard tracking software (PFTrack, 3DEqualizer, SynthEyes, or similar)
• Strong understanding of photography principles, lens characteristics, and camera mechanics
• Proficiency in Maya or similar 3D software for scene layout and proxy modeling
• Solid grasp of 3D principles, coordinate systems, and spatial reasoning
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Bonus Points

• Experience with object tracking and rotomation
• Python or MEL scripting knowledge for pipeline tools
• Understanding of photogrammetry and LIDAR scanning workflows
• Experience with virtual production and real-time tracking systems
• Background in surveying, technical direction, or on-set supervision
