SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER

Retail & Fashion Environments

Salary: Up to £55,000, dependent on experience

Location: East London

Working Pattern: Hybrid (2-3 days in the studio)

Software: Vectorworks, SketchUp

Sector: Retail Design, Fashion Environments, Interior Design

About the Studio

This independent design studio has built a reputation for delivering thoughtful, highly resolved retail and fashion environments. Small by design and ambitious by nature, the team focuses on quality over volume, working closely with clients to create spaces that balance creativity, craft, and commercial understanding.

The culture is collaborative, hands-on, and refreshingly free from unnecessary layers. People are trusted to take ownership, contribute ideas, and play an active role in shaping both projects and the wider studio. There is less process than you'll find in a large agency, but considerably more influence.

This is a business entering an exciting phase of growth, creating an opportunity for a senior designer to become a genuinely important part of its future.

About the Role

This is a senior position for someone who enjoys being close to the work.

You'll be involved throughout the entire design process, from early concepts and spatial thinking through to technical development and delivery. Alongside producing high-quality design work, you'll help projects move forward day to day, supporting coordination, maintaining quality, and ensuring ideas are successfully translated into buildable outcomes.

The role combines creative responsibility with practical leadership. You'll help bring greater consistency to project delivery while remaining fully hands-on yourself.

For someone who enjoys ownership, autonomy, and direct access to decision-making, it's a rare opportunity to play a meaningful role within a growing design business.

Your days will look something like this...

  • Develop retail and fashion environment concepts from initial ideas through to delivery
  • Produce design packages, technical information, and buildable project outcomes
  • Collaborate closely with studio leadership on creative development and project direction
  • Coordinate project activity to ensure work progresses smoothly across all stages
  • Resolve spatial, material, and detailing challenges throughout the design process
  • Support and guide colleagues while remaining actively involved in project delivery
  • Maintain quality standards across concept, design development, and implementation
  • Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and project stakeholders

You might be our perfect match if...

  • You have significant experience delivering retail, fashion, or branded environment projects
  • You are highly proficient in both Vectorworks and SketchUp
  • You possess a strong understanding of space planning, materiality, and detailing
  • You are comfortable taking ownership of projects from concept through to completion
  • You can confidently interpret and develop creative direction into resolved design solutions
  • You thrive within collaborative, entrepreneurial studio environments
  • You enjoy balancing design excellence with practical project delivery
  • You are comfortable supporting and mentoring others while remaining hands-on yourself

Why this one...

  • Salary of up to £55,000, dependent on experience
  • Hybrid working with flexibility built around collaboration and project needs
  • Direct access to studio leadership and key project decisions
  • Strong pipeline of retail and fashion projects
  • An opportunity to influence how a growing studio evolves and delivers work
  • A creative, design-led culture where ownership and initiative are genuinely valued
