This brand does one thing: ecommerce ads, at real scale, spending millions a month. They need a video editor who can take a brief from their Creative Strategist and turn it into an ad that gets tested in the account, not sit in a portfolio. Most of the work right now is AI avatar and AI-generated ad formats, so you'll be living in tools like Higgsfield and HeyGen more than you're living in a traditional edit suite.
WHO THEY ARE
The company is a young, fast-moving performance creative team built around one of the fastest-scaling ecommerce brands in the space. They don't juggle a portfolio of small accounts. They go deep on one high-spend client, which means every video that gets made actually runs, gets real budget behind it, and gets judged on real numbers.
- Fast-paced and scientific: every ad is a test, and the data decides what wins.
- Speed and quality both matter; there's no trade-off excuse
- Editors who bring ideas and push back on a weak brief are valued over editors who just execute
- Results get rewarded, not tenure or time served
This is a full-time, remote contractor role.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
-
A real path to becoming a strategist. This role is built as a pipeline. Editors who show range get trained up to build their own ad concepts from scratch and step into a creative strategist track.
-
Upside tied to performance. Any ad they write and create from scratch earns them 1% of that concept's ad spend, for the lifetime of the ad. Winning ideas keep paying.
-
Direct line to the person calling the shots. They report straight to the creative strategist running the account, no layers of approval slowing down feedback or credit.
-
Training that actually exists. Two weeks of structured onboarding through established performance-editing courses, followed by ongoing feedback on every concept produced.
-
Skin in a brand that's actually scaling. They'll be working on a product line that's expanding in real time, not stuck editing the same three ad formats for a stagnant account.
WHAT YOU’RE GETTING INTO
- Edit 5 ad concepts a week, each built as one core video with 3 hook variations, for a high-spend ecommerce brand.
- Turn raw briefs, references, and assets into finished, scroll-stopping video within 24 hours of assignment.
- Turn around revisions within 48 hours based on direct feedback via Frame.io.
- Work across AI-driven ad formats, including AI avatars and AI-generated creative, adapting as the formats evolve week to week.
- Join one weekly strategy meeting to review performance and discuss what's working, then spend the rest of the week heads-down editing.
- Learn to read and act on hook rate and hold rate data, not just aesthetic feedback.
- Build toward creating original ad concepts independently as skills develop
WHO YOU ARE
- You have hands-on experience editing direct response or affiliate-style ecommerce ads, not just branded or lifestyle content.
- You are fluent in CapCut and/or Adobe Suite.
- You have used or are quick to pick up AI video tools like Higgsfield, HeyGen, or ElevenLabs
- You understand performance marketing language, including hook rate and hold rate, and how editing choices move those numbers
- You care more about whether an ad makes money than whether it looks like art
- You take a brief and question it when something doesn't add up, rather than executing blindly
- You can work independently with minimal oversight once a brief is assigned
- You're comfortable in a fast-testing environment where most ideas won't win, and that's expected
Bonus Points If You Have
- Worked on a dropshipping, affiliate, or direct response brand specifically
- Already got a portfolio of ads that have proven themselves with real ad spend behind them
- Started building your own concepts from scratch, not just executing someone else's storyboard
