There's no playbook here. No inherited processes, no legacy systems to untangle. You're walking into a business with real scale and real chaos, and you're the one who turns it into a machine.
Inventory that's months ahead instead of one bad forecast from a stockout. SOPs that exist instead of living in someone's head. AI doing repetitive work so people can do the important work. If that sounds like a fun problem to solve rather than a headache to avoid, keep reading.
WHO THEY ARE
This is one of the UK's fastest-growing women's wellness brands, built on evidence-backed products and a mission to help women feel like themselves again through world-class education and an exceptional customer experience. The business has scaled to seven figures a month and hundreds of thousands of customers, and it's now pushing into the US while staying obsessed with speed, data and AI.
Here's the shape of it:
- Remote team of around 30 plus a network of specialist freelancers
- Preparing for US expansion on top of continued UK growth
- Culture built on ownership, speed and constant improvement, not job titles
This is a fully remote, full-time contractor role.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU
-
Direct access to leadership. You report straight to the top, no layers in between.
-
A real leadership pathway. This role has a clear track to Head of Operations, Director of Operations, and ultimately COO for the right person.
-
Build a department from scratch. You'll shape the Operations function, and you'll decide when and who to hire as it grows.
-
Performance bonus. Tied to operational KPIs once you're onboarded.
-
Total autonomy. You own execution across the business, not just a slice of it.
-
A front-row seat on international growth. You'll be central to the US launch and the push toward a £50M+ business.
WHAT YOU'RE GETTING INTO
- Own operational execution across the entire business, end to end
- Build scalable systems and SOPs where none exist today
- Drive AI adoption and automation across every department
- Coordinate product launches from planning through delivery
- Oversee inventory forecasting and supplier management, keeping stock months ahead so stockouts aren't a conversation
- Strengthen cross-functional communication and kill the ambiguity around who owns what
- Track operational KPIs and build the dashboards that make problems visible before they become crises
- Steadily take operational decision-making off leadership's plate as you build out the function
WHO YOU ARE
- You've built and scaled operations inside a high-growth DTC ecommerce business, ideally £10M to £100M+ in revenue
- You've built SOPs and operational systems from scratch, not just maintained someone else's
- You're comfortable in Shopify, Notion, Slack, Google Workspace, Sheets/Excel and a project tool like ClickUp, Asana or Monday.com
- You've managed supply chain and inventory planning under real pressure
- You've led complex product launches without dropping the ball
- You're already using AI in your daily work, not curious about it, actually using it
- You think in systems, not tasks, and you fix the process, not just the symptom
- You take full ownership: when you hit a wall, you solve it, you don't leave it on someone else's desk
Bonus if you've:
- Worked in subscription ecommerce
- Supported a US or international expansion
- Operated in health, wellness, supplements, or FMCG
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
-
First 30 days: You've met every department and understand how the business runs end to end. You've completed a full operational audit covering systems, reporting, inventory and AI opportunities, and you've already banked a few quick wins.
-
First 60 days: You own day to day operational execution. Critical SOPs and cross-functional workflows are getting documented and improved. The first wave of AI-driven automations is live, and ownership across key initiatives is clear.
-
First 90 days: You're the central operational leader in the business. Leadership's involvement in day to day decisions has dropped noticeably. Operational KPIs are visibly improving, and you've built a roadmap for AI adoption across the next 12 months.
