Senior Creative Strategist (Pet Care Brand)
Apply for this job

Somewhere between a hook that stops the scroll and a VSL that actually closes, there's a science most people pretend to understand. Very few actually do.

This role is for one of those few. You'll own the creative strategy behind a Meta account spending serious money in the pet space, diagnosing what's working, building the testing roadmaps, sharpening the VSLs, and giving a 14-person creative team the direction they need to produce ads that actually scale. Not just ideas. Not just feedback. A system that makes the whole operation smarter over time.

WHO THEY ARE

They're a fast-growing direct-response eCommerce brand in the pet space. In just a couple of years they've scaled from zero to mid-8 figures and are on a clear path toward 9 figures, and the trajectory isn't slowing down.

The culture is straightforward: high expectations, real autonomy, and no interest in politics or bureaucracy. People here are given serious ownership early, decisions get made fast, and the work is directly tied to outcomes you can measure. There's no layer of middle management to navigate, no approval chains that slow everything down, just a tight team of people who are genuinely good at what they do, moving toward an ambitious target together.

This is a fully remote, full-time contractor role.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU

  • Ownership that moves fast: You'll get up to speed quickly and take the reins; this isn't a slow hand-holding process.
  • Real scale: Serious daily spend, where your creative calls have direct, measurable impact on revenue.
  • Room to grow: As the brand scales, so does this role, eventually leading a full creative department with junior strategists under you.
  • Performance bonuses: Strong base, monthly bonuses, and uncapped upside for exceptional results.
  • Work from anywhere: Full remote, with a team that cares about output, not hours.

WHAT YOU’RE GETTING INTO

  • Set the strategic direction for Meta creative, what gets tested, what gets killed, and what gets scaled.
  • Diagnose underperforming ads at a granular level and turn those findings into a clear, actionable next step for the team.
  • Build structured testing roadmaps that increase the percentage of creative with a real shot at profitably scaling.
  • Improve VSL quality across the board, sharper hooks, stronger proof, better pacing, cleaner structure.
  • Write briefs that give editors, copywriters, UGC creators, and AI engineers everything they need to execute without back-and-forth.
  • Work hand in hand with the senior media buyer to align creative priorities with what the account actually needs.
  • Direct the AI content team on output that's realistic, strategic, and usable inside a direct-response ad.
  • Build the institutional knowledge the team learns from, angle libraries, testing logs, VSL breakdowns, fatigue tracking, brief templates.
  • Train and develop junior creative strategists as the team grows into a pod-based creative department.

WHO YOU ARE

  • You have 3+ years in direct-response creative strategy or performance creative within DTC, eCommerce, health, wellness, supplements, or pets.
  • You have serious Meta experience tied to accounts spending at least $20K per day.
  • You have deep, hands-on experience with 4 to 6+ minute VSLs and know how to build, diagnose, and fix longer-form direct-response structure.
  • You can look at creative metrics and explain not just what's happening, but why, and what needs to change.
  • You know your way around tools like Triple Whale, Motion, Foreplay, or Meta Ads Library and use them to find patterns, not just pull numbers.
  • You know how to direct AI content workflows, spot when the output isn't good enough, and push the team to fix it.

Bonus points if you have:

  • AppLovin or YouTube experience
  • TikTok or Native ads background
  • Experience with advertorials or presell pages
  • Worked with AI avatars or AI-generated creative

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • 30 days: You know the account inside out, what's scaling, what's fatiguing, where the gaps are. You're up to speed with the team and the existing creative process.
  • 60 days: Briefs are sharper, feedback is clearer, and the team is working from a structured testing roadmap. You're already moving on the biggest leverage points.
  • 90 days: VSL quality is visibly better, systems are in place for how winners get built and iterated, and the impact is showing up in the numbers.
