An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Engineer to join a well-known and highly regarded national civil engineering contractor delivering technically challenging marine and heavy civil engineering projects across the UK.
The company undertakes a broad range of specialist projects involving:
- Reinforced concrete structures
- Sheet piling and driven piling
- Cofferdams
- Rock armour and coastal protection
- Harbours, quays and jetties
- Piers and lighthouses
- Marine and waterfront infrastructure
Projects are delivered throughout the UK, including current and forthcoming work in Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool, Norfolk and London. The role will therefore require regular travel and periods working away from home.
The Role
Working as part of an experienced site management and engineering team, you will be responsible for accurate setting out and supporting the successful delivery of marine and civil engineering projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking setting out for reinforced concrete, piling, cofferdam and marine construction works
- Using robotic total stations and associated surveying equipment
- Preparing and uploading coordinate information independently
- Setting out directly from drawings, models and digital information
- Completing as-built surveys and maintaining accurate engineering records
- Undertaking quality assurance inspections and documentation
- Assisting with ITPs, inspection records and project quality requirements
- Checking drawings, levels, dimensions and construction tolerances
- Supporting the site management team with technical queries and project delivery
- Working on projects delivered under NEC forms of contract
- Ensuring work is completed safely, accurately and in accordance with the specification
Candidate Requirements
Applicants should possess:
- A minimum HNC or HND in Civil Engineering, or an equivalent qualification
- At least three years’ setting-out experience within civil engineering or construction
- Strong practical experience using robotic total stations
- The ability to prepare, upload and work from coordinate data independently
- Experience completing quality assurance records and engineering documentation
- A good understanding of construction drawings, specifications and tolerances
- Experience of reinforced concrete, piling, marine, structures or heavy civil engineering projects
- Familiarity with NEC forms of contract
- A willingness to travel and work away from home when required
Previous experience involving marine construction, harbours, quays, jetties, sheet piling, driven piling, cofferdams or rock armour would be particularly advantageous.
