The Opportunity
A well-established civil engineering contractor is appointing a Site Manager / Site Agent to lead delivery across a portfolio of North East civils schemes. Ideal for a proven Site Agent or a strong Sub Agent ready to step up.
Typical Projects
Water & wastewater infrastructure, drainage and environmental improvements, highways/public realm, coastal & riverside works, and heritage/eco-sensitive sites.
What you’ll deliver (core duties)

Pre-start & planning: interpret drawings/specs, build look-aheads and method statements, sequence works with designers, utilities and stakeholders.

Programme management: own short-term plans, track progress vs baseline (MS Project or similar), remove blockers, re-sequence to hit milestones.

HSEQ leadership: author/brief RAMS, lead daily briefings/TBTs, ensure permit controls (hot works, confined space, lifting), CDM compliance and a zero-harm culture.

Quality assurance: implement ITPs, inspection/test records, material approvals, as-builts, red-lines and handover files.

Commercial control: maintain site diaries, measure works, capture change/early warnings, support valuations, manage waste, plant and cost efficiencies.

Supply chain management: procure and coordinate subcontractors, schedule plant/materials, verify competencies and performance.

Stakeholder liaison: primary contact for the client, residents, local authorities and third parties; manage TM and public interface.

Environmental compliance: deliver SWMPs, pollution prevention, consents and monitoring (noise, dust, water).

People & leadership: mentor engineers and operatives, set standards, conduct reviews and build a collaborative site culture.
What you’ll bring
- Proven delivery of civil engineering works (water/highways/public realm/coastal/marine or similar).
- Strong grasp of programming, QA/ITPs, permits and subcontract management.
- Confident communicator with clients and stakeholders; calm, organised and solutions-focused.

SMSTS and CSCS (black/gold desirable); First Aid essential.
- Full UK driving licence.
