Groundworks Contracts Manager – Permanent Position
Location: North Yorkshire (with regular site visits)

A well-established construction group is seeking an experienced Groundworks Contracts Manager to lead and oversee the delivery of multiple groundwork and civil engineering projects across North Yorkshire and surrounding areas.

The company delivers a wide range of construction services through several specialised subsidiaries. This role sits within the Groundworks Division, which undertakes works including:
- Infrastructure for volume housing developments (roads, sewers, earthworks, plotworks)
- Civil engineering schemes such as bulk earthworks, remediation, drainage, hard landscaping, and surfacing
With a strong financial foundation and a directly employed workforce, the group continues to expand across the region.
About the Role
The Contracts Manager will be responsible for the planning and execution of multiple live sites, primarily based in:
- Whitby
- Northallerton
- Eaglescliffe
- Guisborough
- Yarm
There may be additional short-term projects beyond the regular area;
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all projects meet or exceed Health & Safety standards, and lead on implementing company H&S initiatives
- Oversee the programming, delivery, and performance of groundwork schemes from inception to completion
- Represent the company professionally in client meetings and stakeholder discussions
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear and personable communication
- Foster a positive culture of teamwork, performance, and quality across all delivery teams
- Maintain accurate documentation, technical records, and project reporting
- Coordinate effectively with site teams, internal departments, and subcontractors
Candidate Requirements
- Substantial experience managing groundwork and civil engineering projects in the residential housing sector
- Proven knowledge in roads, sewers, plotworks, earthworks, and related civil disciplines
- Strong IT skills including MS Excel, Word, and MS Project (or equivalent)
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational abilities
- High attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
- A collaborative and safety-conscious approach to management
