A hands-on Site or Senior Site Engineer with strong earthworks experience to support the delivery of platforms, cut/fill, enabling works and wider civils packages across multiple live sites in the North East. You’ll take ownership of setting-out, surveying, QA and day-to-day coordination to keep programmes on track and work to spec.

About the company

A long-established, North-East based civil engineering contractor delivering a varied portfolio of earthworks and civils packages across commercial and housing developments, as well as specialist schemes. They operate multiple concurrent sites in the region, with a stable direct workforce and modern plant. The business is known for pragmatic leadership, solid repeat relationships, and a straight-talking, team-first culture. (Client name intentionally withheld.)

Experience & capability

  • 2+ years’ experience in civil engineering with a clear focus on earthworks (platforms, roads, drainage, remediation/enabling).
  • Proven setting-out and surveying across live sites (control, levels, as-builts, volumes, QA records).
  • Proficient with Trimble GPS and Trimble Machine Control.
  • Working knowledge of LSS or n4ce (surfaces, strings, volumes and data management).
  • Able to interpret drawings, specifications and schedules; confident reporting on progress and programme risk.

Characteristics

  • Punctual, reliable, diligent and accurate.
  • Strong communicator; able to liaise effectively with site management, operatives, supply chain and visiting stakeholders.
  • Takes ownership, solves problems early, and works well both independently and as part of a wider delivery team.

Qualifications & other

  • Full UK driving licence.

What they can offer

  • Supportive leadership, clear progression opportunities and investment in professional development/CPD.
  • Modern kit and digital workflows (GPS, Machine Control, recognised survey software).
  • Strong site safety culture and well-structured QA processes.
