Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor (Permanent)

Location: Leeds (office-based) | Projects across Yorkshire only

Sector: General Civils | Typical project values: £1m–£15m (average £5m–£8m, with schemes delivered up to c.£65m)


The opportunity


We’re looking for a proactive Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a successful, innovative project team delivering high-quality civil engineering schemes across Yorkshire. This is a key commercial role where you’ll take ownership of day-to-day commercial delivery—supporting project success through strong cost control, contract administration and collaborative working on site and with the wider project team.

You’ll be joining a principal contractor operating solely across the Yorkshire region, offering long-term stability, a strong pipeline and genuine progression.


What you’ll be doing


  • Preparation and submission of interim payment applications and project final accounts
  • Managing valuations, cost control, cost reporting and change control / contract administration
  • Working with NEC3 / NEC4 and maintaining robust contractual compliance
  • Issuing early warnings and supporting proactive risk reduction
  • Managing and administering compensation events (notifications, quotations and submissions)
  • Procuring subcontractors in line with the project programme
  • Subcontract administration, including assessment of payment applications and issuing payment notices
  • Managing subcontractor payments and agreeing subcontract final accounts
  • Measurement of quantities on site and from drawings where required
  • Producing accurate internal valuations, subcontract liabilities and CVRs in line with reporting timetables
  • Working closely with the project team to monitor progress, identify and manage risks/opportunities
  • Ensuring high-quality, accurate site records are kept and maintained
  • Supporting additional duties as reasonably required as part of the role


About the projects


This contractor delivers design-and-build infrastructure and public realm works across Yorkshire, including:


  • New highway schemes and road adaptations
  • Cycle paths, tow paths and footpaths
  • Bridges and other structures (including large retaining walls)
  • Major drainage and flood alleviation schemes
  • Public realm and streetscape improvements


Schemes are typically within the area bounded by Harrogate, York, Hull, Sheffield and Halifax, with current and secured work into 2026 across: Huddersfield, Brighouse, Elland, Bradford, Halifax, Barnsley, Sheffield, Kirklees, Scunthorpe, Hull, Rotherham.


Current project locations include: Dewsbury, Brighouse, Abbeydale, St Johns, Beverley, Elland, DrypoolPending works across frameworks and local authority programmes include areas for Kirklees & Calderdale, York, Rotherham, Barnsley, North Yorkshire, Bradford, Hull and East Riding.


What we’re looking for


Qualifications / Experience


  • Minimum HND (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying / Civil Engineering
  • Experience working on civil engineering projects
  • Working knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 (or strong transferable contract experience)
