As Site Agent, you’ll be the key day-to-day leader on site—driving safe production, quality, programme and commercial awareness. Depending on project size, you’ll run either a standalone job or a major package within a larger scheme, ensuring the team and supply chain are aligned, organised and delivering right-first-time.
You’ll be client-facing, confident with technical detail and comfortable coordinating all moving parts: labour, plant, materials, temporary works, subcontractors, permits, QA, reporting and short-term planning.

- Manage permits and controls (e.g., permit to dig, lifting operations, plant compliance)
- Support temporary works control (TWC/TWS depending on competence and project needs)
- Produce or assist with key site documentation such as the Construction Phase Plan
Technical & quality
- Read and interpret drawings/specifications, plan methods of work, raise TQs and manage information flow
- Carry out inspections and tests, manage ITPs and drive a defect-free culture
- Recognise defective works early and ensure timely rectification
- Compile and coordinate handover documentation and contribute to H&S file close-out
Programme, planning & reporting
- Build and manage weekly programmes / look-aheads; coordinate materials call-offs and key deliverables
- Monitor progress, report accurately and communicate constraints early
- Produce daily/weekly progress updates and support monthly reporting requirements
Commercial awareness
- Keep accurate records of labour/plant/materials and measurement for direct/subcontract works
- Support the QS/CM with procurement schedules, CVR input, variations and quotations
- Understand subcontract orders/attendances and manage performance against scope and programme
- Identify risks and opportunities and communicate them clearly through reporting

We’re keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate most of the following:
- Experience delivering civil engineering works (highways, drainage, public realm, structures, paths/cycleways etc.)
- Either: a Senior Site Engineer/Sub Agent ready to step up into full project ownership, or an established Site Agent/Site Manager with a track record of self-delivered civils projects
- Strong technical ability: confident reading drawings, sequencing work, troubleshooting and raising TQs
- Working knowledge of NEC contracts and the behaviours needed to manage change, records and early warning
- Sound commercial awareness: measurement, procurement planning, supporting CVRs and variations
-
SMSTS (5-day), CSCS (gold or equivalent) and First Aid at Work (required)
- Good IT skills for site reporting / QA systems and general documentation
