The Opportunity

We are looking for a forward-thinking, experienced and proactive AI Engineer to be an early member of the engineering team. In this key strategic role, you will be empowered to create and enhance the AI solutions that drive our business. You will build custom web-based applications and other custom software solutions, integrations and ai agentic workflows around our current core softwares (Slack, Rippling, Sage and MEWS) pushing the boundaries of these softwares. You will leverage AI for coding assistance cutting down on your coding time so you can focus on architecture and other strategic aspects.

This position will allow you have end-to-end ownership of our AI systems, providing you with a special chance to work with the latest AI technologies and lead the way in practical machine learning applications.You will have the freedom to decide what foundational models, pre-built solutions, frameworks you want to use and work on creating products with high model use costs as you develop high quality output internal solutions for various departments within the ecosystem of our businesses.

What You'll Do

• Web-based Applications Building: Create, work on and test multiple projects across our portfolio of custom web-based applications.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement AI/ML solutions and algorithms into existing systems and solve complex business problems.
• Internal Systems Integration: Familiar with Slack, Rippling, Sage and MEWS. You will support in building custom solutions and integrations pushing the boundaries of these softwares. Example: Building a bidding and social profiles functionality on top of the hospitality software MEWS
• AI-Assisted Development & Rapid Iteration: Use AI assistance to rapidly engineer software systems, and consistently prototype and iterate on new applications.
• AI/ML Model Development: Design, develop, and deploy production-grade small scale locally run AI/ML models and systems. You will write code, use frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch, and take models from initial concept to a monitored, production-ready state.
• Data Pipeline Construction: Build and optimize scalable data pipelines for training and inference. This involves data ingestion, preprocessing, feature engineering, and ensuring data quality using tools like Apache Spark and SQL/NoSQL databases and developing SOP’s for data collection such as audio (omi AI) and video recordings (zoom recordings), continuous screen recording, text messages, slack, etc.
• MLOps Implementation: Implement and manage MLOps practices for the entire model lifecycle. This includes setting up CI/CD pipelines, managing model versioning with tools like MLflow, and using containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Generative AI, LLMs: Fine-tune and implement Large Language Models (LLMs). You will apply techniques like RLHF and PEFT, build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, and craft effective prompt and context engineering strategies. 
• APIs: Experience designing and optimizing high-performance, scalable APIs.
• LAMs: Create framework for data collection through continuous monitor recording tools such as Rewind.ai, Fine Tune and implement Large Action Models (LAMs) based on employee workflows.
• Production Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor, analyze, and optimize AI systems in production to ensure reliability, security and cost-effectiveness.
• Architecture & Development: Design and implement scalable, secure, and reliable full-stack software architectures, applying best practices for system design.
• Champion Software Quality: Ensure the quality and robustness of the codebase by writing comprehensive unit, integration, end-to-end tests, and participating in rigorous peer code reviews.
• AI Expert Cloning: Develop AI clones of different domain experts within our companies that people can communicate and get insight from such as the managing director, our doctors, other domain experts and best performers in each department.
• Mentorship and Training: Guide and mentor company employees in the use of AI systems and support non-technical colleagues in the development of AI-assisted workflows.
• Future Proofing and Experimenting: Trailblaze future technology adoption by experimenting with emerging technologies (e.g. quantum computing, biological computing) to future-proof our AI capabilities and explore new possibilities.

What You'll Bring

• Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field is preferred. However, a strong portfolio of shipped projects and open-source contributions are highly valued and prioritized.
• Proven Expertise: Demonstrable experience in designing and deploying production-grade AI/ML systems.
• Software Engineering Fundamentals: A strong grasp of core software engineering principles, including design patterns, data structures, and writing clean, testable, and maintainable code.
• Product-Oriented Mindset: A focus on delivering value to the end-user, with a pragmatic approach to balancing technical excellence with the speed of delivery.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Python, SQL, JavaScript and React. Experience with AI/ML frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch. Familiarity with data tools (Spark, Pandas), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and Vector Databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS). Skilled in MLOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, MLflow).
• Rapid Iteration Mindset: A proven ability to prototype and iterate quickly, moving from concept to functional application efficiently.
• Adaptability & Lifelong Learning: A genuine interest in technology, a passion for continuous learning and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are crucial.
• Systems Thinking: The ability to think holistically about how AI is utilized in our business workflows and the entire AI lifecycle, from data pipelines and model development to deployment and monitoring.
• Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Slack, Rippling, Sage, and MEWS is a significant advantage.
