Function / Title: Junior Financial Assistant
Department: Finance
Location: Cape Town / In Office
Reports to: Accountant / Head of Finance
Job Purpose
The Junior Financial Assistant supports the finance function within a property management environment by ensuring accurate financial processing, timely reporting, and effective control of income, expenses, reconciliations, and owner/tenant-related financial matters.
This role plays a key part in maintaining financial accuracy, supporting audits, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and financial procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Processing & Accounting
- Capture and process supplier invoices, owner charges, and journals accurately and timeously.
- Maintain accurate general ledger records and supporting documentation.
Property & Owner Accounting
- Prepare and review owner statements, ensuring all charges and recoveries are correctly reflected.
- Reconcile property income and expenses against budgets and highlight variances.
- Track under- and over-recoveries and assist with reporting and explanations.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Reconcile creditor and debtor accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor outstanding balances and follow up where required.
Reporting & Analysis
- Support audit processes and provide required documentation.
Systems & Administration
- Maintain accurate records across property management and accounting systems.
- Ensure all documentation is correctly uploaded and filed (e.g. Teams/SharePoint).
- Adhere to internal controls, finance policies, and regulatory requirements.
General Support
- Provide support to the Finance Accountant and Management where required.
- Assist with ad hoc finance and administrative duties.

Qualifications & Experience
- 1–3 years’ experience in a finance or accounting role.
- Experience within property management, hospitality, or a similar industry is advantageous.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, or similar).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with property management systems is advantageous.
