Floor Manager – Duties & Job Specification
Leadership & Staff Management
- Supervise FOH staff during service (hosts, waiters, runners, bartenders).
- Ensure staff follow service standards, grooming policies, and punctuality.
- Conduct pre-shift briefings and communicate daily specials, bookings, and operational updates.
- Support staff during busy periods and lead by example on the floor.
- Handle minor staff conflicts and escalate issues when necessary.
Guest Experience
- Monitor service quality and ensure guests feel attended to from arrival to departure.
- Resolve guest complaints immediately and professionally.
- Always maintain strong visibility on the floor.
Operational Oversight
- Oversee opening and closing FOH procedures.
- Ensure the dining area, bar, bathrooms, and all guest-facing areas are clean and presentable.
- Maintain communication with the kitchen for timing, special requests, and dietary requirements.
- Ensure consistent food and beverage presentation standards.
Stock & Cash Management
- Oversee FOH stock levels (beverages, cutlery, glassware, menus, POS rolls, etc.).
- Monitor wastage and report discrepancies.
- Assist with cash-ups and ensure accurate reporting.
5. Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensure FOH staff adhere to hygiene protocols and safe food-handling practices.
- Conduct regular checks on cleanliness and sanitizing procedures.
- Report maintenance issues immediately and follow up on repairs.
6. Training & Development
- Identify training needs and assist in onboarding new FOH staff.
- Reinforce customer service standards and sequence-of-service procedures.
- Conduct performance checks and give constructive feedback.
7. Administration & Coordination
- Assist with shift schedules where required.
- Prepare daily floor reports (issues, compliments, guest counts, turnover insights).
- Coordinate with the Area Manager, GM, and Head Chef on operational updates.
