Senior Product Designer – UI/UX

Location: Cape Town (Hybrid)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Product Designer to lead the design of intuitive, user-centred digital products. You'll take ownership of the entire product design lifecycle from discovery and research to high-fidelity designs and developer handoff transforming complex business requirements into elegant, scalable software experiences.

This role is ideal for a systems thinker with exceptional UI/UX expertise, a passion for solving complex problems, and a portfolio of successful digital products.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end product design process, including discovery, user research, journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, visual design, and developer handoff.
• Translate complex business processes into intuitive, user-friendly digital experiences.
• Design user flows, interaction patterns, interface states, and reusable design components.
• Develop and maintain scalable design systems that ensure consistency across products.
• Collaborate closely with developers to ensure accurate implementation of design intent.
• Use analytics, usability testing, and user feedback to continuously improve product experiences.
• Present design concepts and rationale to clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
• Review and mentor design work, helping to maintain high design standards across the team.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of experience in Product Design, UI/UX Design, or Digital Product Design.
• A strong portfolio showcasing shipped software products such as SaaS platforms, dashboards, web applications, or mobile applications.
• Experience designing complex workflows, business systems, and user journeys.
• Advanced knowledge of Figma, including Auto Layout, Components, Variables, Design Systems, Prototyping, and Dev Mode.
• Strong visual design, typography, layout, interaction design, and prototyping skills.
• Experience using research, analytics, and usability insights to drive design decisions.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain design rationale to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working within technology companies, financial services, or fast-growing startup environments.
• Familiarity with AI-powered design tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Figma AI, Midjourney, or similar.
• Experience with usability testing and analytics platforms such as Maze, Hotjar, Mixpanel, Microsoft Clarity, or Google Analytics 4.
• Knowledge of design tokens, accessibility standards (WCAG), and developer handoff best practices.
• Understanding of HTML/CSS and modern front-end frameworks, particularly React-based applications.
• Experience with motion design tools such as Rive, Lottie, After Effects, Framer, or Webflow is advantageous.
