Senior Travel Consultant

Reports to: Team Leader / Branch Manager

Location: Cape Town (Fully Onsite)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Travel Consultant to join our dynamic travel team. This role focuses on delivering exceptional, tailor-made corporate and leisure travel experiences while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and ensuring seamless end-to-end service delivery.

The ideal candidate has strong destination knowledge, excellent customer-service skills, and the ability to manage complex bookings in a high-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Client Consultation & Booking Management

• Provide expert travel advice across Southern Africa and international destinations.
• Prepare accurate itineraries, quotations, and travel documentation.
• Tailor travel arrangements including flights, accommodation, transfers, activities, and special services.
• Proactively recommend destinations, properties, and experiences to enhance client journeys.

Supplier & Partner Liaison

• Build and maintain relationships with local and international suppliers.
• Negotiate rates and secure preferential deals with preferred partners.

Customer Service Excellence

• Deliver professional, prompt, and reliable service to clients.
• Manage high-end and complex travel bookings with accuracy and care.
• Handle itinerary changes, travel disruptions, and emergency support when required.

Administration & Compliance

• Ensure bookings adhere to internal policies and industry regulations.
• Maintain accurate records across booking platforms and systems.
• Support invoicing accuracy, supplier reconciliation, and administrative processes.

Team Leadership & Mentoring

• Mentor and support junior consultants with training, guidance, and best practices.
• Assist with day-to-day operational workflow alongside the Team Leader when needed.

Key Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Travel Consultant, specialising in tailor-made and complex itineraries.
• Strong experience across both corporate and leisure travel.
• Proficiency in GDS platforms.
• Excellent destination knowledge of Southern Africa (international knowledge advantageous).
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
• Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple bookings under pressure.
• Proficiency in Wetu and Tourplan for itinerary creation and booking management.
• Passion for creating memorable, personalised travel experiences.
• Portuguese (Advantageous)

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate in Travel & Tourism (advantageous, not essential).
