General Manager – Steel & Rebar Processing Division

As part of the wider Quinn Group, the business has established a dedicated steel and rebar processing division, initially created to support internal piling and ground engineering operations. With a purpose-built 45,000 sq ft facility in Downpatrick, new machinery installed and further investment planned, the foundations are now in place to scale this operation into a substantial standalone business.

Production volumes are expected to increase from around 1,000 tonnes annually to in excess of 30,000 tonnes, bringing with it greater operational complexity, logistics, and the need for strong, structured leadership. To support this next stage of development, Quinn Piling is seeking to appoint a General Manager to lead the division.

This role is is an opportunity to build, shape and scale an operation from an early stage into a high-performing manufacturing environment. The successful individual will take ownership of the facility, the processes and the team, putting in place the structure, systems and disciplines required to support sustained growth.

The role will suit someone who is comfortable operating across operational, technical and commercial areas. You will be responsible for developing efficient production processes, managing increasing throughput, overseeing logistics and material flow, and building a capable team as the business expands. You will also play a key role in the specification, commissioning and optimisation of machinery, including the implementation of systems that support automation and efficiency.

While prior experience in steel, rebar or similar processing environments would be advantageous, the emphasis is on appointing a well-rounded leader with a strong grounding in manufacturing or engineering. Individuals who have worked in lean, process-driven environments, and who understand how to scale operations in a controlled and structured way, will be particularly well suited.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring someone who can combine strategic thinking with practical delivery. The successful candidate will be given the autonomy to shape the division, supported by the wider Quinn Group’s shared services, including HR and Finance.
