Job: Mechanical Contracts Manager
Location: Newtownabbey
Some roles are about progression. Others are about getting things done properly.
This is the second of those.
We are working with an established M&E contractor delivering a growing portfolio of work across the UK, particularly in England. As part of that growth, there is a need for a strong Mechanical Contracts Manager who can take ownership of delivery and bring consistency across multiple live projects.
You’ll be responsible for managing mechanical projects typically in the £5m–£10m range, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The role involves coordinating site teams, managing subcontractors, overseeing procurement, and maintaining control of programme and commercial performance throughout.
A key aspect of the role is the ability to operate effectively across UK-based projects. This will involve travel and time on site, often building delivery teams from the ground up — including site managers, labour and subcontractor networks. You’ll need to be comfortable working in a hands-on environment where not everything is set up for you.
You’ll work closely with commercial teams to manage costs and protect margins, and with pre-construction colleagues to ensure projects are properly planned before they commence. When issues arise, you’ll be expected to deal with them early and decisively.
You’re likely already working as a Contracts Manager or Senior Project Manager within an M&E or building services environment, with a strong mechanical bias. You’ll have solid technical knowledge, good commercial awareness, and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience of delivering projects in England or across the UK is important, as is your ability to stay organised, detail-focused, and in control within a busy delivery environment.
There’s no spin on this one. It’s about delivery, consistency, and doing the job properly. If that’s how you operate, it will feel like a good fit.
