General Manager

Location: Magherafelt, Co. Londonderry

Most businesses reach a point where the challenge is no longer about building something from scratch. It’s about how it continues to develop.

This business has already been built — properly. Over a number of years, it has developed into a profitable, well-run operation with a loyal client base, recurring revenue and a reputation for delivering consistently. It operates with clear structure, disciplined processes and a straightforward, effective way of doing things. What the business owner now needs is someone to take that foundation and move it forward.

As General Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running and performance of the business. You will spend time understanding how it operates, how it generates revenue and what matters to its clients. You will work closely with the owner, while progressively taking on full responsibility for the operation over time. This is not a role focused on change for the sake of it. It is about recognising what works, maintaining it and strengthening it.

At the same time, there is a clear expectation around commercial performance. You will be expected to identify and deliver initiatives that improve profitability and strengthen the overall position of the business. This may come through developing existing client relationships, refining the service offering or identifying new areas of opportunity within the market.

Alongside this, you will play a key role in the ongoing development of the business — strengthening its independence, improving visibility of performance and ensuring it is positioned as a credible, well-managed business from an external perspective over time, including in the context of longer-term ownership considerations.

This is a role for someone who is comfortable taking ownership. You are likely to come from a service-led, logistics or operational environment. You understand how businesses run, how to manage people and how to deal with clients. You bring commercial awareness and the ability to recognise opportunity.

Most importantly, you are someone who sees what needs to be done, puts a plan in place and delivers it. For the right individual, this represents an opportunity to take real responsibility, influence the direction of a well-run business and play a central role in its continued development.
