Our client is a leading Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) contractor delivering high-quality engineering solutions across the UK. With a turnover in excess of £50m million, they deliver complex Design & Build projects across hospitality, commercial, healthcare, and residential sectors. Their regional office supports a growing portfolio throughout Scotland.

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a proven Regional Director to lead and grow their Scottish operations. This is a strategic leadership role responsible for business development, client relationships, operational delivery, and regional profitability. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding their market presence while maintaining the high standards and culture that underpin their success.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the regional business, ensuring alignment with company goals, values, and performance standards.
  • Develop and implement a regional growth strategy focused on both expanding new business and nurturing existing client relationships.
  • Identify new market opportunities, frameworks, and project leads within Scotland and Northern England.
  • Represent the company at senior-level client meetings, industry events, and professional networks.

Business Development

  • Drive business growth through strategic client engagement and targeted business development initiatives.
  • Oversee tendering activity and contribute to bid strategy in collaboration with the Bid and Estimating teams.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key consultants, developers, and main contractors.

Operational Oversight

  • Provide leadership to regional project, commercial, and engineering teams.
  • Ensure project delivery meets programme, quality, and financial targets.
  • Work closely with Group functions (Finance, HSEQ, Design, and Procurement) to maintain consistency and control.
  • Monitor regional performance against KPIs and implement improvement plans where required.

Financial Management

  • Take full P&L responsibility for the region.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and resource plans.
  • Ensure robust commercial governance and cost control on all projects.

People & Culture

  • Mentor and develop regional management and project teams.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
  • Lead by example in health & safety, quality, and client care.


Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven track record in a senior management role within an MEP contracting environment.
  • Strong understanding of Design & Build project delivery and commercial management.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing regional business and securing new clients.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Commercial acumen with P&L management experience.

Desirable:

  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Experience within sectors such as hospitality, healthcare, or PBSA.
  • Established professional network within Scottish construction and M&E markets.
